  • Record the selected app’s audio, or import MP3, M4A, WAV, and AIFF files, including over Wi-Fi
  • Split audio into sentences, recognize and translate each one, and save any sentence as a clip
  • Review saved clips in Today with spaced repetition, and collect words in a local word book

Privacy
  • Speech recognition runs on your device; audio is not uploaded for recognition
  • No account is required; an email address is used only to buy, claim or recover Mac Pro
  • Mac usage statistics are optional and off by default; when on, basic activity, the Mac’s region setting and a hashed random installation ID go to PostHog in the EU
  • Wi-Fi import uses plain HTTP on your local network with no pairing code
What it does not do
It doesn’t get around the copy protection (DRM) on videos or music. On Mac, it records the app you choose, not your microphone.

Standard description

LingoClipper is a language-learning app for Mac with two ways in. It keeps the last 30 seconds of one app’s audio in memory, so one shortcut saves the sentence you just heard, and it helps you split whole recordings and audio files into sentences, then recognize and translate them. Saved clips come back for review with spaced repetition.
